Absence Management
Introduction
The effective reduction and controlling of unnecessary absence in the workplace is an important issue in today's organisations. To maximise organisational effectiveness, personnel charged with the achievement of targets and objectives must control absence through a thorough understanding of organisational policies/procedures, essential law, accurate monitoring, fair management and effective absence counselling.
Aims
This workshop aims to allow delegates to explore organisational policies and procedures implement best practice. Workplace action plans for improvement will be developed.
Format
Training will be held in a relaxed, friendly environment, which is conducive to the learning process. Delegates will be actively encouraged to take part in every aspect. The whole period will be highly participative with formal trainer input being complemented by exercises, discussions and regular feedback sessions.
Delegates will need to log the main learning points as the course progresses. This will enable them to not only ensure that objectives are being met, but help in the formulation of workplace action plans.
Who Should Attend
Anyone who as the responsibility for staff. Some knowledge of employment law is assumed.
Objectives
At the end of the programme delegates will be able to:
• Recognise and understand the importance of effective absence control in line with organisational objectives
• Effectively understand and apply organisational policies and procedures
• Appreciate the role of management in managing absence
• Identify practical measures to measure, monitor and control absence
• Understand the importance of effective absence counselling and return to work interviewing
• To apply a range of behavioural and influencing styles during the above
• Understand the need to continually review the above process and modify own behaviours and approaches to bring about continuous improvement
