INTRODUCTION
- As an NVQ is completed by a candidate it must then be passed by an assessor to judge whether or not it fulfils the criteria for the award to be made. This is then internally audited by the verifier to ensure standard are maintained.
- Both A1 (Assessor) and V1 (verifier) are accessible to anyone who has real work experience, although candidates are expected to have sufficient numeracy and literacy skills to carry out the work.
- The A1 is a level 3 qualification and main criteria are as follows:
Developing plans for assessing competence with NVQ candidates
Judging evidence against NVQ criteria to make assessment decisions
Providing feedback and support to NVQ candidates on assessment decisions
Contributing to the internal quality assurance process within NVQ centres
UNITS
A1 units of competence are as follows:
A1.1 - Develop plans for assessing competence with candidates
A1.2 - Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
A1.3 - Provide feedback and support to candidates on assessment decisions
A1.4 - Contribute to internal quality assurance process
