 Qualification Aims:
This NVQ provides you with proof that you are competent in your work and have the skills and knowledge to do your job well.
A nationally recognised and flexible qualification from City and Guilds Awarding Body that enables candidates to gain the practical skills needed to be an effective care worker. Candidates will increase in confidence, personal growth and development, which can enhance the Quality of Care provided by care homes.

These qualifications are suitable for:
Care assistants working in residential, nursing and learning and physical disability homes.

Cost:
£650 + vat

Entry requirements:
There are no academic entry requirements, however you must be engaged in work appropriate to the qualification, (see above).

Qualification structure:
4 mandatory units and
2 optional units

Candidates employed in Social Care must be assessed in 4 core units plus 2 optional units.
Candidates employed in Health Care may undertake the 4 core units and 2 optional units or 2 core units and 2 optional units plus 2 other units from the core or optional units, or 3 core and 3 optional units

Assessment & Grading:
This qualification is competence based and assessments are linked to the candidates ability to perform tasks connected to their occupational area. You will need to provide evidence to prove your competence and you will also be observed by an assessor carrying out your duties.

Units available to include: Mandatory units include:
• Fostering individuals equality and rights
• Promote effective communication and relationships
• Promoting Health, Safety and Security
• Protection of individuals from abuse
Optional units include:
• Support individuals to meet their domestic and personal needs
• Support individuals to make journeys
• Carry out and provide feedback on specific plan of care activities
• Support individuals to access and participate in development activities
• Provide food and drink for individuals

Delivery & Timescales:
This is a student led model of delivery. Your training advisor will guide and encourage you using action plans and feedback, but you dictate the pace. . However, students will be expected to make progress according to agreed timescales. The qualifications can take anywhere between 6 months & 18 months to complete
