Qualification Aims:
These NVQs provide you with proof that you are competent in your work and have the skills and knowledge to do your job well.
These qualifications are suitable for:
These NVQs are the thing for you if you are working as a youth support worker helping young people aged between 11 & 25 to develop personally and socially. These can vary to youth clubs and centres to schools, colleges and voluntary youth organisations. They are relevant to you if you work on a full time, part time paid or voluntary basis.
The level 2 qualification is suitable for anyone who works directly with young people in a youth work setting. The level 3 qualification is suitable for individuals who work directly with young people in a front line service but also have more leadership responsibility for the development and promotion of the service or agency.
Entry requirements:
There are no academic entry requirements, however you must be engaged in work directly with young people, (see above).
Cost:
Level 2 : £650 + vat
Level 3 : £750 + vat
Qualification structure:
Level 2 - 4 mandatory units and 2 optional units
Level 3 - 4 mandatory units and 4 optional units
Assessment & Grading:
This qualification is competence based and assessments are linked to the candidates ability to perform tasks connected to their occupational area. You will need to provide evidence to prove your competence and you will also be observed by an assessor carrying out your duties.
National Occupation Standards:
These qualifications relate to nation occupational standards for Youth Work levels 2 & 3.
Endorsed by the National Youth Agency as appropriate qualifications for youth support workers, they are aimed at people working in a range of setting with young people.

Level 3 units include:-
Enable young people to work effectively in groups.
Manage your work and create effective work relationships.
Enable young people to be active citizens.
Promote a culture of health and safety.
Delivery & Timescales:
This is a student led model of delivery. Your training advisor will guide and encourage you using action plans and feedback, but you dictate the pace. However, students will be expected to make progress according to agreed timescales. The qualification can take anywhere between 6 months & 18 months to complete
